Chollamolla

A little recipe book with a big family story.

Chollamolla is a recipe book designed for Hayley Sieff. It is filled with family anecdotes and recipes handed down from Hayley’s grandmother that she’s made her own; the titular recipe for Chollamolla – leftover Cholla bread made into the Sieff version of French Toast on Saturday mornings – is just one example of how traditional Jewish recipes have been personalised. We worked with Hayley to design the book (even the dimensions tell a story, the same as the Smythson Diary she received as a wedding present) and commissioning illustrations for many of the recipes included.
